History

The variety has been developed from the cross of Co 8347 x Co 86011 and released as an early variety for the commercial cultivation in the North-Western Zone in 2009.

General Appearance

Tall, reect, medium thick, brownish purple canes, green leaf sheath, dark green canopy with curved tips.

Distiguishning Characteristics

Habit: Erect

Leaf: Dark green lamina with weak clasping leaf sheath with sparse hairs, crescent ligule and lanceolate inner article dewlap. The leaf blade is medium wide with curved tip.

Cane: Obconoidal, medium thick, brownish purple coloured internodes with shallow bud groove, weak zig-zag alignment and has light wax. Bud tip touching the growth ring. It has medium wide root bands. The internodes are round in shape cross section and without pithiness.

Breeding and Agronomic Characteristics

The clone has erect canes with medium cane population and good ratoonability. This is a high quality early variety having tolerance to drought and water-logging condition.

Pest and Disease Reaction

Moderately resistant to red rot, smut and wilt.
